A house steeped in history

The Quellenhof Aachen

Since its opening in 1916, the Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen has been one of the city's most distinctive establishments.
Its architecture, atmosphere and location quickly made the Quellenhof a place where Europe came together.
To this day, the house combines tradition and modernity – with a naturalness that only a long history can bring.

war turmoil and destruction

Towards the end of the Second World War, the hotel business was largely at a standstill. The building was converted into an air force hospital and large parts of it were destroyed during the fighting for the "Fortress Aachen". Only the building itself survived; the inventory and furnishings were confiscated or looted.

Comeback in the economic miracle

After the Quellenhof reopened in 1949 with four rooms on one floor, by 1966 there were already 220 beds available again. The focus shifted increasingly from a spa hotel to a venue for parties, conferences and large events. Over the next decade, the hotel underwent extensive renovation. The design and zeitgeist of the 1970s found their way into the hotel. International high society graced the Quellenhof with its presence: from family holidays for the Spanish royal family to the christening of the future Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the awarding of the Charlemagne Prize to Sir Winston Churchill.

Renovation and interlude

At the end of the century, the Cologne-based Fundus Group (now the Jagdfeld Group) acquired the Quellenhof from the city of Aachen and decided to completely renovate it once again. The 1970s ambience disappeared and, after 20 months of construction, the hotel palace regained its original character. In 2001, modern conference facilities and a wellness and spa area were opened in the former spa centre. During this period, the Quellenhof was initially leased and operated by Dorint, and later by Accor.

Today: The unique item is back

The owner, the Jagdfeld Group, has decided to manage the Quellenhof itself from 2020 onwards and to create a place where very special moments of well-being can be enjoyed. Extensive renovation work and a forward-looking hospitality concept that carries the tradition of the hotel into the modern age mark the beginning of a new era. The Quellenhof is back! And perhaps a little more beautiful than ever before!
